As part of our commitment to developing the young workforce in Scotland, we work with Highland Council and Portree High School to offer a range of course choices to pupils in S3-S6 which complement the school curriculum and offer pupils the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in new areas.

Courses on offer include Foundation Apprenticeships in Business Skills, Creative Media and Design, Software Development, Social Services Children and Young People and Social Service and Healthcare. Other courses available include Construction Crafts, Early Education and Childcare, Digital Media Animation and Web Design, Hairdressing and the Introduction to Outdoor Adventure.

The latter is delivered in partnership with the School of Adventure Studies and is the perfect introduction for young people who are interested in a career in outdoor adventure and who may wish to go on to study the Certificate in Outdoor Adventure in Broadford.

The courses are usually timetabled for one full day a week at our college centre in Portree, which is home to state-of-the-art resources and facilities which support the delivery of courses such as Hairdressing and Construction. A full list of course options for pupils in Portree High School is available on the Your School page.
