Class 1: About West Highland College UHI

West Highland College UHI was created as the result of a merger between Lochaber College UHI and Skye and Wester Ross College in August 2010. The College is constituted as a company and is governed by Articles of Association . It is recognised by the Inland Revenue as a charity for tax purposes. The Scottish Charity number is SC024193.

The College was added to the list of colleges in the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 2005 in June 2012, and became a fundable body in terms of the Act from 1 August 2012.

In August 2014, the College was assigned to the University of the Highlands and Islands, as its regional strategic body, under the Post 16 Education (Scotland) Act 2013.
