Nigel grew up in Dumfries and, after leaving the Royal Air Force, has lived in Lochaber since 1991.

Since 2012, Nigel has been employed by the college in the Employment & Development team, and latterly as Business Development Manager. Having worked previously with Barnardos’s Scotland, Lochaber College and a successful career in the Automotive Industry, Nigel’s background and focus on community collaboration has led him to a number of volunteer opportunities and community roles such as a member of the Children’s Panel and School Board member.  He possesses open-minded, friendly, resourceful and optimistic outlook to life. As a family man, Nigel has raised a large and diverse family and been involved with fostering.

Nigel has been instrumental in working with our most disadvantaged communities on employability skills and development, under substantial contracts from SDS and Highland Council. Nigel was a major factor in the college receiving triple awards by the Scottish Training Federation in 2017, including Employability Training Provider of the year. But his passion and main success is in bringing people from the most fragile backgrounds into employment and formal learning.
