Lydia Rohmer

Lydia Rohmer assumed the post of Principal and Chief Executive of West Highland College UHI at the end of February 2012.

Educated at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Glasgow and Oxford Universities, Lydia started work at the then Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 1996, where she held posts as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Head of Teaching Unit for Communication and Media. Following creation of Glasgow Metropolitan College, Lydia assumed the post of Assistant Principal for School of ICT, Sport and Tourism in 2005, and Assistant Principal for the School of Communication and Media in 2007.

Following merger of Glasgow Metropolitan College with Glasgow College of Commerce and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies to form City of Glasgow College, Lydia assumed responsibility as Curriculum Director in 2011, leading the Schools of Business and Enterprise, Creative Industries, and Computing, and providing senior management leadership for the cross-college areas of Access, Inclusion, Skills and Articulation, in particular for the development of policy and strategic partnerships with universities in the context of widening access.

Prior to working at Glasgow’s City Centre Colleges, Lydia taught for several years at Glasgow University in both Music and Philosophy.

Lydia has served on many cross-sectoral and tertiary education groups, including those relevant to Curriculum for Excellence, FE-HE articulation, Essential Skills and the Colleges ICT Advisory Group.
