Are your accounts written on the back of an envelope?  Does your accountant spend hours sorting through a box of receipts every year? 

Well-kept books will provide the information to enable you to make financial decisions, take advantage of trading opportunities, plan ahead with confidence and help you produce periodic and annual accounts, thus reducing your accountant's fees.

There are no formal entry requirements.

During this one day course you will be able to –

  • Understand the need to keep financial records
  • Know how, in a small business, financial records should be kept
  • Be aware of some of the legal requirements for maintaining records
  • Be able to record financial transactions

    If you already have a Skills Development Scotland Individual Learning Account (ILA) then you can enrol on a course until 30 June 2017 as long as the course commences no later than 30 September 2017.

    What can I do on completion of my course?

    This course gives the student the knowledge and understanding of accounts and they can progress onto the 2 day Book-keeping course or a Sage accounting course.
