Food Hygiene - Elementary (Refresher) Certificate

What is special about this course?

This course is designed to refresh and test candidates knowledge of food hygiene at elementary level. The course is a minimum of 3.5hrs. Candidates must hold a current qualification of less than 5 years old.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for candidates who already hold a current Food Hygiene qualificcation which is 3- 5 years old. Proof of certification must be shown at booking. Candidates with a qualifiaction which is older than 5 years should attend the full 1 day Elementary Food Hygiene course.

Section 1 of the work book is completed as a whole group. Gaps in knowledge should be identified during this session and these will be addressed and discussed as appropriate.

A combination of training techniques will be used to cover the particularly important areas of food hygiene:

Important updates on food safety and current legislation.

Videos, presentations, work books and question and answer sessions will be used as appropriate to refresh knowledge prior to assessment.

Assessment will be a short test paper with a pass mark of 60% (18/30)

Fees

£55.00

Funding

Funding of up to £200 is available to help with payment of course fees, depending on your personal circumstances.

This support will be available for people who are 16 or over, living in Scotland and either in low paid work or actively seeking work. To be eligible, you must have income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on certain benefits.

You will also not be undertaking any secondary, further or higher education, SDS funded training or participating on the Community Jobs Scotland programme.

What can I do on completion of my course?

On completion of the Elementary Food Hygiene you could progress onto the Intermediate, E-Learning Food Hygiene.
