Cyber Security NPA
What is special about this course?
NPA Cyber Security will provide you with foundation knowledge and skills in data security, digital forensics and ethical hacking and an insight into the cyber security industry.
This course is designed to raise awareness of cyber security in order fill the current skills gap in this field. You will be encouraged to improve your cyber hygiene and to identify security weakness safely, legally and ethically which will allow you to contribute more safely to virtual communities.
The aim of the course is to produce knowledgeable and skilled individuals who are aware of the potential misuses of, and unauthorised access to, computer systems but who use these competences for legal and ethical purposes.
Entry requirements
All you require for this course is an interest in computing.
This course introduces learners to the cyber security industry and will include a mix of topics including:
- Data Security
- Digital Forensics
- Ethical Hacking

Internet connection and a suitable device with headphones, microphone & camera (minimum spec) is required. Please email us if you have any concerns about connectivity or equipment.

Timetabled learning will take place in an online classroom where you connect and interact with your lecturer and classmates using with video, voice and text chat.

You will be assessed by means of a combination of practical tasks and open and closed book assessments throughout the year. You may have to attend a college centre or other exam centre for some of these – we can discuss this with you on application.

Course cost is £264.00
Funding
A Fee Waiver or funding of up to £200 could be available to help with payment of course fees, depending on your personal circumstances. This support will be available for people who are 16 or over, living in Scotland and either in low paid work or actively seeking work. To be eligible, you must have income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on certain benefits. You will also not be undertaking any secondary, further or higher education, SDS funded training or participating on the Community Jobs Scotland programme. Travel expenses are available if you live 2 miles or more away from the centres providing this course. What can I do on completion of my course?
On successful completion of this course, presents the opportunity to progress onto National 5, Higher and NC Computing courses. From there you can progress onto HNC/HND Computing Science or Modern Apprenticeships in the IT/Computing Industry.
