What is special about this course?

Would you like to gain valuable skills in a business administration environment that will place you ahead when seeking employment?

This practical course will develop your abilities in a wide range of IT and administrative skills necessary for future employment in business, retail, reception, hospitality and public sector areas.

Entry requirements

You should have at least 3 Standard Grades at credit/general level / 3 National 4s or above / equivalent combination of both.

If you don't meet our entry requirements, your previous experience may still qualify you for this course. Mature students will be considered on merit. All candidates will attend an interview.

This qualification is accredited at SCQF level 5.

  • IT applications: spreadsheets, databases, touch typing, presentation software and word processing
  • Office based duties: reception, processing of business documents, organising events, central services
  • Personal development: managing time and resources effectively
  • Introduction to: marketing, human resources and finance
  • Core skills numeracy and communication.
  • One week work experience

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time

This course is available in all of our college centres using blended learning: a combination of video conferencing and virtual learning environments. Our experienced college centre staff will support you.

How long will my course last?

34 Week

You will study 21 hours (3 days) per week throughout the academic year.

Most students have their course fees paid as this is a full time course. Please contact your local college learning centre or Student Services for more information.

Some of our courses require students to have essential equipment/clothing.

If you are 18 and over and are eligible for a bursary, these costs will be met through your bursary. If you are not eligible for a bursary, you will need to fund these items yourself.

If you are under 18, you are entitled to have essential equipment paid for whether you are entitled to EMA or not. However you must apply for EMA even if you know that you’re not entitled to EMA.
