Hospitality Services SVQ2

What is special about this course?

This Level 2 SVQ is designed for anyone in full time employment, who is involved in a variety of areas in a hotel.

The majority of the evidence for the qualification will be provided through visual observations carried out in the workplace. The candidates will also have to show that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding of their job.

Entry requirements

You must be in year round full time employment and working in the hospitality industry.

The qualification consists of 10 units, 3 of which are mandatory and the other 7 are selected by the individual candidates. It has specialist units relevant to all aspects of a hospitality business, including.

  • Deal with the arrival of customers
  • Deal with bookings
  • Provide a linen service
  • Prepare & clear areas for table service
  • Serve food at the table
  • Prepare & serve wines
  • Produce basic vegetable dishes
  • Prepare & cook fish
  • Maintain & deal with payments
  • Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
  • Prepare customer accounts and deal with departures
  • Collect linen & make beds
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself
  • Serve alcoholic & soft drinks
  • Cook & finish basic vegetable dishes
  • Prepare hot & cold sandwiches
  • Complete kitchen documentation

How long will my course last?

12 Month

This course is completed in the work place. You may have to attend various 1 day workshops.

We provide you an evidence portfolio and all the documentation required to help you complete the qualification. We also provide you with a textbook and access to a variety of different resources.

What can I do on completion of my course?

This qualification could help the candidate progress into a role with more responsibility. They may also be able to progress onto the Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Level 3 SVQ.
