Technician Andrew Harpur and Project Manager Margaret Weir set up equipment inside the new Advancing Maunfacturing Centre in Fort William. They will provide support and expertise at zero cost to businesses.

Are you a business owner looking to make a new product, create branded merchandise or reorganise your existing assembly line to be more efficient?

Doors are opening on a new Advancing Manufacturing Centre (AMC) in Fort William and businesses from across the West Highland region are invited to access our services at zero cost.

No matter where you’re based, what you make or are planning to start making, join us to find out how we can help. There’s no catch and no long-winded application process.

You can find out more at a forthcoming webinar on Wednesday 25th August at 12pm on Eventbrite.

You might be a one person company looking to create special moulds for handmade soaps, a small distillery trying to decide the best way to bottle gin or an organisation looking to redesign an entire assembly line.

We’re offering free support and expertise across different industry sectors including Food and Drink, Construction, Aquaculture and Hospitality. We can provide:

  • Access to manufacturing equipment including 3D printing and scanning and machining. We can manufacture a prototype to order or deliver portable equipment to your site and provide training.
  • Support from our highly experienced team across a range of research, design and project management issues and technical advice.
  • A risk-free ‘sandpit environment’ where your business can delve into problems and uncover innovative solutions without needing to invest in equipment.
  • A unique hub facility for businesses operating in remote communities.

Come along to the webinar and meet Margaret Weir, Project Manager and Engineer and Andrew Harpur, Technician, who will explain what the Centre is offering and how it can be applied to any size of business and any size of problem at no cost.

AMC is part of the national ‘Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund’ which aims to provide small to medium businesses with access to advanced manufacturing technology and expertise free of charge.

West Highland College UHI applied to join the fund and help distribute £1.6m of funding by December 2022 thanks to a partnership between the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. AMCF is part funded by the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund.
