Jelena Farkić is a recipient of The Moffat Charitable Trust adventure tourism research studentship and is currently reading for her PhD under Dr Peter Varley's supervision. Her study is focusing on tourist experiences in the outdoors and the ways these can be facilitated by highly skilled adventure guides.

She hails from Novi Sad, Serbia, but now considers herself a happy resident of Fort William despite its dramatic climate. She has a background in tourism and prior to moving to Scotland she had taught several modules in the field of nature and activity-based tourism at the Faculty of Sport and Tourism.
