This introductory course will help you to start to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes, needed for work in the construction industry.
The construction industry is a major employer in Scotland. There is a need for trainees in all of the trades in this wide sector. If you have an interest in practical crafts work and enjoy learning in a hands-on setting, then this course gives you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge in relation to the Construction Industry. We can help you make informed choices regarding a career in construction.

The course includes units on Understanding Industry and working on Self and Work, as well as trades based introductions to Carpentry and Bench Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Brickwork, Plasterwork, Roof Tiling and Stonemasonry as well as info on being a Construction Operative.

After you complete this course, you could seek employment within a variety of construction disciplines including Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Roofing, Bricklaying, Plastering, Stonemasonry, General Construction Operations, Management & Civil/Structural Engineering. You can also progress into further education and/or training in these areas.
