This course enables learners to communicate, be critical thinkers, develop cultural awareness and be creative.
You will produce a creative portfolio of two essays: a discursive/persuasive essay on an issue; and a personal reflective or creative
essay in which you will demonstrate creative writing skills. The course fosters an appreciation of language awareness and of a
wide range of literature.

Higher English is an entry requirement for a large number of University courses and is qualification valued by many employers.
You will have achieved 3 passes at National 5 in a related subject area, for example a literary subject. Or, you must demonstrate an appropriate standard of written communication. Entry to this course will require a satisfactory reference.
