Degree Module: Creative Song Enhancement
SCQF Level 8
This module is part of the BA (Hons) Applied Music degree. The module allow individuals to study song writing and then develop a single song using Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) techniques to enhance the structure and interest of the song.
You will study the process of modern song writing and production, from developing the original idea (chords and lyrics) to recording and applying creative production to further enhance the work. Developing this skill set is of increasing practical value to the modern composer/musician as the complexity and ease of use of DAWs has meant that listeners expect an increasingly complex and engaging use of technology in the music they consume.
This programme of study is delivered via Google hangouts or Brightspace.
You will undertake a one-day induction in June and then study from September.
Three Highers at C or above, one being Music. Pupils should be able to demonstrate ability to use a DAW (folio of projects) and provide a satisfactory reference, or evidence that you are able to work above Higher/SCQF level 6.
Entry to this module requires a satisfactory reference.
Mode of delivery: Online, Semester 1 (September to December)
