West Highland College UHI is recruiting a Coordinator and Project Developer that will lead our Integrated STEM provision and programme. The successful candidate will lead this exciting project and be accountable for developing materials that can be adapted for delivery. You will work closely with partners to coordinate delivery.
The iSTEM Programme is intended to become an integral component of the Highland STEM offering. There are many other stand-alone STEM activities STEM projects available across the region. The aim of iSTEM is to compliment these stand-alone STEM opportunities by ensuring STEM is integrated into the school curriculum throughout the year. Some teacher training may be included. iSTEM will be delivered into a limited number of primary schools and high schools in the first phase of roll-out. The intention is to offer iSTEM to all schools in future years.
iSTEM projects are intended to be worked on as problem-based (research style) projects. Projects will promote and adopt a flipped approach to learning, allowing learners to become confident by developing solutions independently and as part of a team / group. As some projects may be set by local industry, learners will get a sense of the STEM related career opportunities that are available to them in the Highlands and nearby area.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of STEM and have STEM related skills. You will have knowledge and experience of research methods, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to relate to a range of industry professionals and curriculum sectors.
We are looking for someone who can manage and plan their own time to meet tight deadlines, can work well within a team but also use their own initiative and find innovative solutions.
