West Highland College UHI is looking to recruit a Lecturer in Rural Skills, to undertake teaching, learning, programme development and other duties on a team basis.

The suitable candidate must be qualified to a minimum of SCQF Level 6 and will ideally hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one), whilst being competent and experienced within a range of subject areas, including:

  • Gardening/Horticulture
  • Woodland skills
  • Practical Estate work such as footpaths and fencing (supported by an instructor)
  • Tools and power tools
  • Working with timber
  • Polytunnel building
  • Woodwork skills
  • Knowledge of working with livestock (desirable)

The ideal candidate will also have relevant experience in encouraging learning, inspiring others, and sharing knowledge and skills.

Effective communication skills are essential in this role, as well as the ability to relate to students of all ages.
