Curriculum Area Lead, School of Adventure Studies, Fort William.
I have been a professional outdoor practitioner for over 30 years. I have worked as a feelance instructor, national centre instructor, international kayak and mountaineering guide, national mountaineering trainer and assessor, British Cycling coach, RYA Instructor and University/college lecturer.
I have led expeditions to every continent and have spent time living and working in France, Tanzania, New Zealand and Antarctica.
I have trained and assessed all the Mountain Training qualifications including MIC and IML whilst working as a full time instructor at Glenmore Lodge and Plas y Brenin. I also helped develop the sea kayak department at Glenmore Lodge by guiding several Shetland and Greenland Expeditions. I was head of the mountain biking department at Glenmore lodge for five years and introduced the Velotech mechanics qualifications as well as supporting both the SMBLA and British Cycling Awards.
As head of the department I oversee all lecturing activities.
