Adventure Studies
As well as our four degree programmes we have two very practical one-year courses that are a great way to expand on your skills in adventure activities and improve your performance. Outdoor Adventure is based in Broadford at our adventure base on the Isle of Skye, while Outdoor Leadership is undertaken at our adventure base in Fort William.

Outdoor Adventure NQ
Improve your personal competence in a range of outdoor adventure activities and accelerate your learning in challenging environments. The course is part of the School of Adventure Studies, giving you access to highly skilled tutors who will guide you on your way in developing sound skills and experience in mountain, river and sea environments.

Outdoor Leadership NQ
You will cover many different activities – from paddle sports and mountain biking to rock climbing – during your course, learning everything you need to know to be a professional activity instructor. Master your skills in mountain, river and sea environments.
Our Adventure Degree Programmes
Our degree courses are delivered from our Fort William base, you can choose from a range of courses and degrees in the tourism, adventure and marine sectors. Our degree programmes help you gain in-depth knowledge to deliver excellence in your work as an outdoor practitioner, Students also get the opportunity to design and embark on an international adventure expedition as part of their course.

Adventure Education BA (Hons)
Adventure education is about creating learning opportunities through adventurous activities. It is fundamental to the modern adventure sector as well as a significant and diverse area of future employment. As an educator in this field, you will be responsible for providing safe, adventurous experiences, promoting learning to help others to discover, reflect, and develop.

Adventure Performance and Coaching BA (Hons)
You will combine the skills and knowledge of the applied sports scientist with those of a modern adventure professional in ever-changing outdoor environments, preparing you to coach and guide the next generation of adventure athletes and participants who demand greater outcomes in their adventure sport.

Adventure Tourism Management BA (Hons)
Adventure tourism is the fastest growing area of the tourism industry and has taken the adventure sector by storm in recent decades, bringing adventurous activity experiences into commercial tourism. New, fresh and continuously developing, our graduates have a fantastic opportunity to become a part of the story of shaping this dynamic sector.

Marine and Coastal Tourism BA (Hons)
This unique course, the first of its kind in the UK, focuses on the skills you need to become a tourism professional in the marine and coastal sector. You will consider many aspects including activities, climate and environment, community, customers and policy.
