Lee Woodward

I have been employed in the Adventure Sector since 1988 when I started working as a multi-activity instructor at commercial outdoor centres.  After a few years I left the role as senior instructor to study Outdoor Education at University which gave me a teaching qualification. After graduating I worked as a teacher in Council-run Outdoor Education Centres. During this time I participated in three, six-week long, Youth Expeditions to Lesotho, Malawi and Peru during the summer breaks. I later took on an appointment as Head of Outdoor Education at an Independent School where I was responsible for the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, as well as designing and leading ambitious expeditions with the pupils during the summer holidays. Before moving to Skye, I worked with children in care running Outdoor Programmes. I have also developed a free-lance portfolio where I have been a course provider for Mountain Training and I still actively coach in my spare time.

Other areas of interest

I like variety. One of my strengths has been the ability to do many different activities. I love the sea and coast and activities that are associated with it; I have spent many days surfing and climbing sea cliffs. I have sailed a lot too, I have taken part as crew in the Fastnet Race 2007, 2009, 2015 and again 2019 as well as two tall ship races as watch leader. I really enjoy expeditions where journeying is involved.
