Leon Durbin


Leon is a qualified ecologist and bushcraft instructor.  He currently runs 'Wildwood Bushcraft' (founded in 2005) which is an environmentally responsible business, teaching about bushcraft, survival, navigation, and ecology.   Since 2010 the business has been based near Lochailort in Moidart, from where it provides public courses and canoe expeditions.  Wildwood Bushcraft also runs international expeditions to Sweden and Canada.

Leon has worked as an ecologist on several overseas projects.  For example, leading a two year study on the Asiatic Wild Dog in India; working as a volunteer on a marine turtle conservation project in Kepalonia; as a research consultant in South Africa, and as a staff biologist for Raleigh International in Chile.  He has presented his research at international conferences and has authored several peer-reviewed publications.
